At Haan Health, we understand that women’s health is complex, personal, and often under-discussed. Our GPs provide a safe, respectful, and genuinely supportive space for women to talk openly about any aspect of their reproductive health, hormonal wellbeing, or general health at any stage of life — from adolescence through to menopause and beyond.
Dr. Sonu Haikerwal holds qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG, UK) and Family Planning, bringing specialist-level knowledge to women’s health within a general practice setting.
Cervical Screening (Pap Smear / Cervical Screening Test) The Cervical Screening Test (CST) replaced the traditional Pap smear in Australia in 2017 and is now recommended every five years for women aged 25–74 who have ever been sexually active. Our GPs perform cervical screening in a comfortable, unhurried environment and explain your results clearly.
Contraception & Family Planning We provide personalised contraception advice across the full spectrum of options — including the oral contraceptive pill, the mini pill, hormonal patches, vaginal rings, condoms, and natural family planning methods. We take the time to understand your health, lifestyle, and preferences so we can support you in making the right choice for you.
We also provide emergency contraception. Please note: we do not provide medical termination of pregnancy or surgical abortion services.
LARC — IUD & Implanon Insertion and Removal Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs) are among the most effective forms of contraception available. Our GPs are experienced in the insertion and removal of hormonal IUDs (such as Mirena and Kyleena) and Implanon (the contraceptive implant). These procedures are carried out in our clinic with appropriate preparation, aftercare guidance, and follow-up.
Antenatal Care & Pregnancy Support If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, our GPs provide early antenatal care, referrals to obstetricians and midwives, and coordinated support throughout your pregnancy journey. We also support patients with preconception planning, including lifestyle advice and folate supplementation guidance.
Menopause & Perimenopause Management Menopause is a significant life transition that deserves proper medical attention — not dismissal. Our GPs provide evidence-based assessment and management of perimenopause and menopause, including discussion of Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT), non-hormonal options, lifestyle strategies, and bone health monitoring.
Hormonal Health & Period Concerns Irregular periods, heavy bleeding, painful periods (dysmenorrhoea), PCOS, and endometriosis are common concerns that significantly affect quality of life. Our GPs take these concerns seriously, providing thorough assessment, appropriate investigations, and management — including referrals to gynaecologists where needed.
Breast Health & Cancer Screening We provide clinical breast examinations, guidance on self-examination, referrals for mammography through BreastScreen Queensland, and assessment of breast concerns. Early detection matters — don’t delay discussing any changes you have noticed.
STI Testing & Sexual Health We offer discreet, confidential sexual health screening for women, including STI testing, vaginal health assessment, and management of conditions including thrush and bacterial vaginosis.
Mental Health for Women We recognise the specific mental health challenges that can affect women — including perinatal mental health (depression and anxiety during and after pregnancy), as well as the mental health impacts of hormonal changes, chronic pain, and major life transitions. Our GPs provide GP Mental Health Treatment Plans and specialist referrals.
Our Broadbeach clinic is a safe, welcoming space for all women’s health concerns. New patients are welcome.
