Children's Health Services in Broadbeach, Gold Coast

At Haan Health, we care for children of all ages — from newborns to teenagers. We understand that a visit to the doctor can feel daunting for little ones, and we do everything we can to make each appointment calm, reassuring, and as comfortable as possible for your child and for you.

Our GPs take the time to explain things clearly to both parents and — where appropriate — to children themselves, respecting their growing capacity to understand and participate in their own health.

Our Children's Health Services

Newborn & Early Childhood Checks The first years of life are critical for development. Our GPs conduct thorough health checks for newborns, infants, and toddlers — assessing growth, developmental milestones, feeding, sleep, and overall wellbeing. We also provide guidance and reassurance for new parents navigating early parenthood.

Developmental Assessments If you have concerns about your child’s development — speech and language, motor skills, social development, behaviour, or learning — our GPs provide a thorough assessment and arrange referrals to paediatricians, speech pathologists, or occupational therapists as appropriate.

Childhood Vaccinations We follow the Australian National Immunisation Program (NIP) schedule and provide all recommended childhood vaccines from birth through to adolescence. We make vaccination appointments straightforward and as comfortable as possible for your child. Catch-up vaccinations are also available for children who have fallen behind on their schedule.

Illness & Injury Management Children get sick — and when they do, you want to be seen promptly by a GP who takes their symptoms seriously. Our doctors assess and treat a wide range of childhood illnesses including ear infections, respiratory infections, tonsillitis, gastroenteritis, skin infections, and allergic reactions.

School & Childcare Medical Certificates We provide medical certificates, school documentation, and clearance letters as needed for school absences, sporting events, and childcare requirements.

Mental Health & Behavioural Support Children’s mental health matters. Our GPs provide compassionate assessment for anxiety, school refusal, mood changes, and behavioural concerns, with referrals to child psychologists and paediatricians when needed.

Chronic Conditions in Children For children managing asthma, eczema, allergies, type 1 diabetes, or other ongoing conditions, our GPs provide structured care plans, regular reviews, and coordination with specialists to support long-term health and quality of life.

Adolescent Health Teenagers have their own distinct health needs. Our GPs provide a confidential, non-judgmental space for adolescents to discuss physical health, mental health, sexual health, and the challenges of growing up — with or without parents present, according to age and circumstances.

Common Questions About Children's Health at Haan Health

Do you see newborns at Haan Health?

Yes. We welcome newborns and their families. A post-birth check with a GP is a good early step in establishing your child's health care.

At what age can my child see a GP on their own?

There is no fixed age — it depends on the child's maturity and the nature of the appointment. In Queensland, the law allows competent young people under 18 to consent to their own medical treatment. Our GPs will always act in the child's best interest.

Does Haan Health provide catch-up vaccinations?

Yes. If your child has missed vaccinations, our GPs can review their immunisation history and arrange a catch-up schedule.
